SPECIAL DELIVERY SUITESWELCOME
AND INFORMATION
Pre-Registration
/Registration Process: For
your first visit to Spring Hill Regional Hospital (i.e., lab, ultrasound,
special delivery observation), you should enter the hospital at the Women’s
Center Entrance. You will need to provide: ·

Insurance Information For
all future visits you can come directly to the Special Delivery Suites, we will
phone in your arrival. Visitation: Visitation
hours in the Obstetrics Department for individuals, other than
father/significant other/guardians, are 8am – 10pm. Children 12 years
old or younger must be continuously supervised by an adult.
The
nurse or physician may limit visitors at any time, at their discretion.
Obstetrics patients will have no more than 4 visitors in a LDRP during any procedure or the delivery process. Visitors not in a LDRP must stay in the visitor’s waiting area. Obstetrics patients undergoing
triage/evaluation may have only 1 visitor at their bedside. The
patient who will undergo Cesarean delivery may have one significant other
present during the procedure. What
to Expect: Our goal is to provide high quality, safe and family-centered care to all patients. To accommodate the volume of labor patients, we now provide a mother-baby unit for post delivery. Rooms for all moms are private.
No video taping of any kind, to include those on cell phones, may be operated during a delivery. Pictures may be taken after the baby is born. Before
You Leave: Birth
Announcement:
Announce
your new baby to the community by filling out the announcement form.
The announcement will appear in the paper you have chosen when there is
space available. Birth
Certificates:
Please
fill out your birth certificate worksheet as soon as possible and turn it in to
your nurse. The birth certificate
needs to be completed and returned to the state within five days of birth.
If you are unmarried and wish for the father’s name to appear on the
birth certificate then both of you must sign the original before it is sent to
the state. Father’s picture I.D.
is required at the time of signing. Healthy
Start:
Make sure your newborn gets off to
the right start! Your nurse will
ask if you would like to be evaluated for certain health or environmental risk
factors that could affect your baby’s first year of life.
If your baby is eligible, a representative from the Healthy Start Program
will contact you regarding the services available to you and your baby. Infant
Safety Rules:
Safety and security is a top
priority. Please read and sign our
infant safety policy. Your nurse
will discuss this in more detail with you. Newborn
Hearing Screen:
This test is used as a screening
tool to help detect early hearing impairment.
This test is done on an inpatient basis prior to your infant being
discharged. Discharge
Instruction Sheet:
Prior to your discharge home, we
want to make sure you feel comfortable caring for yourself and your new baby.
The newborn Channel is available to guide you through this. On your instruction sheet check off the tasks you feel
comfortable performing. Your nurse
will demonstrate basic care techniques to you and answer questions you might

Testing:
Prior
to discharge, your baby will be screened for certain metabolic diseases such as
sickle cell, hypothyroidism and galactosemia, etc.
This is done by collecting a small amount of blood from the baby. Florida state law requires that this test be done prior to
discharge. Your baby may have to have this test repeated; your nurse will let
you know. Newborn
Pictures:
Pictures
will be taken of your baby right before you go home. You will be given a brochure with picture packages and
prices. Pick a package, send your
money and you will receive your pictures in the mail. Our
